Italy

One of the most beautiful places to bike in the world

The Dolomite Valley is a well kept secret to most Americans. It's a land between two cultures, Italian and Austrian, and has much of both. You can buy your Wurst und Beer in the Plaz and enjoy the sunshine. Bicycling is incredible, the trails are heavenly, and the scenery is incomparable. We took the post trip in Verona, took the train to Vicenza and back in the same day. This was our third and favorite VBT Tour.

Italy: Valleys of the Dolomites

Absolutely Gorgeous!

We recently completed the Dolomites Bike Trip with (15) ladies ranging in age from 19-82. The terrain was easy enough for everyone, especially those that opted for the e-bikes. The scenery was absolutely gorgeous, steep mountains, green valleys, with Tyrollean architecture. Our guides were friendly and knowledgable. We had a fantastic trip...thanks VBT!

Perfect Puglia

Our trip was excellent and very enjoyable! We would highly recommend it to all. All our guides, both pre-trip local & road trip, were experienced, knowledgeable, lovely, and patient. MANY THANKS!!

Italy: Puglia’s Undiscovered Coast

Terrific experience in unique.environment

Outstanding leaders, beautiful places to stay, fantastic food, and some unique towns as well as impressive coastal scenery. Biking was an excellent way to discover a region that is less frequented by foreign tourists.

Italy: Coastal Villages of Tuscany

This was our first bike trip and the most wonderful vacation we’ve taken. Our leaders were absolutely tops and couldn’t have been more fun, caring, and knowledgeable. They made the trip awesome and the accommodations and food were excellent everywhere we stayed. We are already planning another trip!

Our trip was great BUT!!!!!!!

We enjoyed our trip. The accommodations were great. The Ride with GPS worked very well. Clemens, our tour guide was good but he should have checked the bikes better before he gave them to us. The bikes were terrible. My eBike had 50,000 k on the odometer. The bikes were old dogs. On my bike the front brakes dragged the entire trip even after adjustment. The rear view mirror would not stay in adjustment after tightening and was very scratched. Based on the amount we paid I was very disappointed with the equipment. I can't recommend VBT and our next bike trip we will use someone else.

Great rides and hotels, not so great bicycles

We had a great time on our tour. The scenery was spectacular, and the Ride With GPS routes were generally well done, so that any navigation problems can be blamed on us. The accommodations were also great. But, the bicycles, especially their maintenance, were a disappointment. There were six riders on our tour, and three of them had substantial problems; including a broken chain, wobbly wheels and derailleurs that malfunctioned (probably because of poor adjustment). (As it happens, neither my wife nor I had problems with our bikes, but the riders who did have them were quite frustrated. I would like to believe that these problems were an unusual breakdown in the system, but if I were to take another tour with VBT, I would come better prepared to fix any problems that arose. I would also say, as someone with quite a bit of experience with and knowledge of bikes, the general quality of the bikes was not all that great, especially given the cost of VBT tours.

Fantastic trip

Fantastic trip, the itinerary was perfect, the scenery was stunning, the fellow riders were interesting and fun and the leaders, Elena and Angelo, were great! The riding was all pretty moderate with only a few very short hills. We took ferries, a train and were bused between destinations which helped us enjoy a variety of terrains and scenery. It might have been even better with the fast train back from St Moritz but it was all great. The meals that were included were the best we had on the trip. The lunches at the winery and the al fresco lunch were particular standouts. The hotels are nice, in great locations but the rooms are small for roommates. It is Europe after all. Sirmione is very touristy. Angelo and Elena really made the trip special with their humor and knowledge. I have done many self supported rides of 500-800 miles. This was my first organized ride and worth every penny.

Best guides to tour the lake district!

Amazing sensation of timeless beauty connecting earth, sky, water and breath; navigating my two wheeler along.

Bike vacation in Puglia - Fantastic

Excellent bike vacation in Puglia. I'd never been there before and found it's a beautiful area with the sea and beaches and ancient walled cities. Less expensive than other parts of Italy and so friendly! I'd been on several bike tours in Europe before but not a self-guided tour. I was a bit apprehensive about that. Thanks to the great staff organizing the tour, we had a fantastic time and want to come back. Deborah was especially helpful with any little issue that came up. With her taking care of the logistics, I was free to really enjoy my holiday.

A marvelous trip in every way

Everything about this trip was perfect from the time we were picked up at the airport in Bari. Alberbello was scenic and it was great to stay in a trulli and from there, it only got better each day. Our guide Deborah was most helpful. She was there when roads were closed and a slight detour was needed and had the best advice on where to eat, what to see, and how to get the most from out trip. The rides along the coasts were out of this world. The inland rides through olive groves and farmland, equally special. We felt attended to and every need anticipated. Would do this trip another trip like this in a nanosecond. Thanks, Deborah!

My favorite VBT Tour So Far

This was my 6th VBT tour. The best by far. The cycling was the perfect amount of challenging to justify indulging in the amazing food and wine. Claudio and Christian were so knowledgeable and fun. The group, fantastic. And the lodging was the nicest of any place we've stayed in Europe. The views were never ending. I would do this trip again and again and again.

Fantastic Trip!!

I have waited many years before finally deciding on taking the Piedmont trip with VBT!! And, what a wonderful time I had!! The tour guides were superb, the wine country was awesome, offering some great rides with beautiful vistas. In addition, each of the villas we stayed at were cheerfully staffed with very beautiful accommodations. I have already booked another trip next year - it's going to be hard to wait that long!!!

Biking: The best way to experience the world.

Unbelievably beautiful countryside. Not a difficult ride but a few challenging hills by choice. Great accommodations, activities and food. The guides were great leaders and very fun to tag along with.

Outstanding Scenery, Excellent Rides

This was our second trip with VBT and while the scenery was very different, the experience was the same--excellent. Our guides were personable, informative, and helpful, the accommodations were great and the scenery couldn't be beat. Bike paths in this area were plentiful and took you through beautiful areas. As expected, there were a few hills to climb, but they just made the ride a bit more challenging. If anything, the quality of the bike paths made us wish we could have ridden longer in order to take in the scenery around us. We highly recommend this trip.

Amazing trip!

My father and I have done 4 trips to date with VBT, all in Italy. This was my first time to Sicily. My father and I had the best time: the places (e.g. Taormina) we visited and the food were beautiful and delicious. And of course, the best part of the trip is the company and expertise of the guides. Mauro and Sabrina are fantastic and completely made the trip for us.

Italy: Sicily, the Noto Valley & Syracuse

Cycling in Sicily

Being able to experience the beauty of Sicily on a bike was brilliant! I loved that I could go at my own pace and stop to soak up a view or take a picture whenever I wanted. At the same time I knew I was being looked after and that just down the road there would be lunch or a fun cultural experience waiting for me.

Biking Slovenia, Austria and Italy

This was our first VBT tour and won't be our last. One of the best vacations we have taken.

Slovenia, Austria & Italy: Alpine Valleys

Outstanding Beauty

The mountains with new snow, the rivers with the bluish tint from glacier melt, the robin egg blue of the lakes, and the people we cycled with and met in Slovenia, Italy and Austria made this trip a memory for a lifetime.
