Scandinavia: Denmark & Sweden
Indulge in two of Europe’s most bike-friendly countries – VBT style! Crisp sea air, breathtaking coastal vistas along flat cycling paths and deeply held Scandinavian traditions make this Sweden and Denmark bike tour impossible to resist. Along the way, immerse yourself in Scandinavian culture when you partake in a fika (coffee break), tap your feet to folk music and savor an authentic smörgåsbord buffet presented by a local chef.

Travel 45 minutes from Toftaholm Herrgård to the Alvesta Central train station for your train journey (approximately 3 hours) to Stockholm. Upon arrival at the Stockholm central train station in the early afternoon, meet a VBT representative, who will be holding a VBT sign and who will make arrangements for private transportation to your Stockholm hotel (travel time is approximately 15 minutes, depending on traffic).
In the afternoon meet your VBT guide for a walking tour to help orientate you to Sweden’s capital, nicknamed the “Venice of the North” for the many islands and bridges that comprise its heart. In the city’s Gamla Stan, the site of the original city, stretch your legs as you wander amid ancient squares and medieval buildings. Marvel at one of the largest Royal Palaces in Europe, or visit the Nobel Museum in the Old Stock Exchange Building; its exhibits chronicle the prizes awarded here each year (except the Peace Prize, which is awarded in Oslo, Norway).
In the evening continue your exploration of Stockholm and its many dining venues.

VBT has done it again. For over 20 years, my wife and I have been taking bicycle trips. We had long been hoping that VBT, our favorite tour company, would add a trip to Scandinavia. When we found out about this new trip last year, we signed up within days. It did not disappoint. Our leaders were friendly, knowledgeable and always ready to help. We had nice weather. Our mid-September departure had temperatures in the mid to upper 60s, and occasionally in the 70s. The rides were beautiful. We usually ride road bikes, but were glad to be on hybrids…
