Poland is a new tour. The pluses are the hotels, the cheap food, and interesting history of the country. The salt mines were the best excursion. Minuses are the bike routes which were not pleasurable or beautiful for the most part. Because this is a new tour, there were some unexpected “adventures”, all of which were worked out promptly. I would not recommend this trip to friends who travel with VBT because there are many other trips with much more spectacular scenery, food and sightseeing.
Poland: Warsaw to Krakow Reviews
Bike routes are not as good as other VBT trips.

Poland is an exceptional opportunity
We were on VBT’s first trip in Poland. Everything—and all side activities—was just perfect for a May trip this year. Also, given the context for Poland’s experiences, both tragic and uplifting, in the 20th century, this is a great option for those who know even a bit about Europe’s modern history. Do it!

What a great way to experience the country of my ancestors!
While it would have been nice to spend more time on the bike and less being shuttled between rides, I really enjoyed this, my first organized premium bicycle tour.
Our lead guide, Bibi, a Polish national, was fantastic and worked really hard to make sure we had a great time.
If you’re hot-blooded, you may choose a non-summer departure – A/C is not a priority in most of the hotels we visited.
CycleSeattle, Seattle, WA
I loved every aspect of the trip, it was a great cultural experience.
I loved this trip mostly because of the cultural experience that we had. Some of the highlights were visiting the Salt Mine and seeing the Catherial made out of rock salt, the food was outstanding and very reasonable, our guides were very knowelagable and friendly, and the biking was easy but you could take an additional ride that would be more difficult.

NEw program-needs some polishing up.
Found the tour better than I expected. Beautiful countryside, nice towns good roads and courtesy car drivers.Hotels were very good to adequate.

A very real experience of the people and the country.
I was so impressed with the love of country from the people of Poland. Every tour guide in every town started the tour with “Thank you for choosing Poland. We hope you love our country as much as we do, and we are happy to have you visit.” A lovely warm welcome. And I did love their country and the opportunity to see it up close and experience the way people live and the towns they live in. VBT takes you into the country, into the towns and villages, not just the tourist attractions (though, you see those, too!). A completely different kind of vacation and expereince. Fabulous!

Everything about this tour of Poland was great fun!
The tour of Poland was our ninth bike trip with VBT and will always be one of our favorites! We found that viewing the beautiful Polish countryside by bicycle was a great way of seeing everything and also of meeting the friendly, welcoming people of Poland. The accommodations were excellent, the food delicious and the scheduled VBT activities always an adventure, from preparing our own apple pierogis to vodka tasting in the incredible salt crystal caverns. Our guides were always helpful, fun to be with and scheduled unique activites the entire group would enjoy. All in all, this tour of Poland was great fun!

Excellent tour, fantastic guides, great accomodations, well planned group activities.
Excellent tour highlighted by the best two tour guides that I have experienced on any bicycle vacation to date. Hotel selections exceeded my expectations……very luxurious, perfectly located, high quality meals. Salt mine tour was a highlight of the thoroughly planned group events. I enjoyed all aspects of this tour.

A wonderful trip through historic Poland.
Each of the 5 VBT trips I have taken have provided me with a unique experience. Poland was no different. The guides were fabulous, as usual. Poland has a moving and tragic history, but the current Poland is a fun place to visit because of its vibrant mix of “old world” and “new world” culture.
The food was “hearty” and delicious and I was pleasantly surprised by the amount of fruit and vegetables that were available. Cycling through the “Tuscany of Poland” on Wednesday and Thursday was the highlight of the riding. A couple of the routes could be improved to provide more interesting scenery, but that is only a minor issue.
I highly recommend doing the pre-trip in Warsaw and the post-trip in Krakow. Both cities are cosmopolitan and filled with gorgeous town squares and architecture. To really understand Poland’s history, these cities have to be explored.

What a Pleasant Surprise
Poland was enchanting with wonderful views and beautiful countryside. Our trip leaders were both informative and helpful. Two lovely ladies who couldn’t do enough for us. The highlight was the Wieliczka Salt Mines. My fellow bikers were all terrific but this being my 4th time with VBT it always seems to be the case.

An opportunity to understand Poland
You’ll get enough exercise, but this tour is about the country and the people rather than about the cycling. There are hills, but your heart rate will stay in the comfort zone. The trip leaders and the guides on the various tours are quite excited about what Poland has accomplished since 1989, and they will instill some of that enthusiasm in you. You will also learn about Poland’s tumultuous history and its people’s appreciation for science and culture. You will be doing yourself a disservice if you don’t spend a few days in Kraków at the end of the trip. Kraków’s old town is well preserved and alive with informal restaurants and sidewalk cafés. Speaking of restaurants, at 2012’s exchange rates, your dollar goes a long way in Poland.

Tour provides a first hand experience of a country that is growing and thriving in spite of its war torn history
Three cheers for VBT and the cycling-through-the-old-world bike tour! What a great way to get in touch with the culture and history of Poland. Our guides truly welcomed the opportunity to show, tell and otherwise help us experience the fabric of their country. We highly recommend extending the trip in Warsaw and Krakow as their museums and parks provide a lens into centuries gone by and added significantly to our impressions and learnings. We hope to return.
Charlie67, Mid Coast Maine
There were many interesting aspects to this tour. The logistics were somewhat difficult but our tour leaders handled them very well.
We got to see Poland at its best. The routes were somewhat changelling(but then you have to understand that I celebrated my 80th birthday on this trip) but they afforded us the opportunity to see different aspects of the Polish country side. All in all I was very impressed and would welcome the opportunity to travel there again!

Extremely Worthwile To Learn About 21st Century Poland
Since many only know of Poland from it’s very sad, dramatic 20th Century history, it is most enlightening to travel there today.
The country has rebuilt many of it’s magnificent treasures – palaces, the Old Town in Warsaw – besides erecting completely new attractions.
This bike tour brought us to fascinating underground caves in Sandomierz and the magnificent salt mines of Wieliczka, as well as the opportunity to hear traditional Polish music and some wonderul klezmer groups play.
The live, local music of a country is of particular interest to me when I travel.
And I was pleasantly surprised by the variety of delicious food, wine and of course superb beer!

Excellent combination of history, culture and cycling
A great trip overall, especially if you choose both the pre-trip and post-trip. The cycling guides were two terrific, charming, attractive and entertaining young women who treated everyone with efficiency and respect for individual needs. The noncycling activities on the cycling portion of the trip — salt mine tour, vodka and mead tastings, cooking lesson, etc — were most enjoyable. Accommodations were good everywhere, and especially wonderful in Sandimeirz.
Janie, Brooklyn, NY
This was my first “real” bike tour. I was really looking forward to this trip and expecting to have a great time but it exceeded my expectations by far. The tour guides (Bibi, Anderson & Magda) were the best. They were professional but fun, very informative and went out of their way for the cyclists. The countryside was beautiful and interesting – orchards (mostly apples) and farmlands, flower gardens, cemetaries, churches, well-kept houses, religious statues along the roads, and lots of small dogs. There were a lot of activities to keep us busy & interested when we weren’t riding – salt mines, Polish dancing & music, cookie making, mead & vodka tasting, sculpture musem, Jewish cemetary tour. The accomodations were very nice. The tour guide in Krakow was wonderful. I would highly recommend the post-tour of Krakow. There’s so much to see there. I’m sorry I didn’t do the pre-tour in Warsaw.
A wonderful way to be introduced to Poland
The trip leaders are awesome, the pre and post trips are very worthwhile and I would go back in a heartbeat! I would love to explore more of Poland.

This tour is a memorable experience for travelers!
This is a most memorable trip for travelers. Poland having been a country caught between Germany and Russia has suffered greatly and is now emerging into a new democracy. It is wonderful to see Warsaw which was destroyed during WWII has been restored to its original beauty. We experienced having a need for medical assistance at a hospital outside of Warsaw. The medical team was first rate but the hospital was similar to one would see in WWII movies. Very basic. We also experienced the need to exercise our trip insurance and the associated bureaucracy. This trip is for the experienced traveler not for tourists.
Emperor, Rhode Island
I'd score this trip a 12 out of 10
Exceeded my expectations. The other reviews accurately portray the experience, so no need to repeat. The group leaders, BB and Magda were exceptional, professional, delightful and created a delightful atmosphere.
This is a must see country.

Warsaw to Krakow was an amazing trip through history showing how people can recover from horrible acts
Bill1, West Hartford, CT, USA
We weren’t very knowledgeable about Poland prior to this trip, but we learned a lot, gained an enormous appreciation for the country and its people, and had a great time to boot! Tour leaders Bibi and Magda were among the best we’ve ever had–and this was trip #8 for us! They’re imaginative, energetic, solicitous, and very proud of their country. Excursions are fun–Salt Mine, picnic lunches, lunch in Baroque palace, cooking class, museum tour… Scenery is nice. History of Poland–fascinating. Most VBT guests would consider themselves worldly and sophisticated–we think visits to Warsaw and Krakow will make the claims more credible! Enjoy seeing a country that will be strategically important in the years to come.
Doug, The Woodlands, TX, USA
Everything was excellent.
The guides were great. The venues were enjoyable and I have told many at home that Poland is a very pleasant surprise. Food was remarkably inexpensive, but good. The hotels were all very nice and conveniently located to dining and nice towns. This was a typical VBT trip. Everything was well done. That’s why it was my 5th trip and won’t be my last.

Meet the lovely Polish people!
Someone else said it, this tour is less about the biking and much more about meeting the lovely Polish people and learning more about their culture. These are warm, sweet and amazingly resilient people. Everywhere we went we were met with big smiles and a warm welcome. Our guides, Asia and Bibi, simply could not have been better. Both of them were so warm, fun and so excited to show us their country. Warsaw is so interesting – I highly recommend the pre-trip. Krakow was completely different but also very interesting and the post-trip is very well worth it. I just enjoyed every minute of this great trip!

A wonderful historical adventure with friendly people and fun biking
I have been on many bike trips and rate this at the top of many.
The pre- trip in Warsaw was fabulous in the Old City. People were friendly, museums interesting and neighborhoods easy to walk in.
The biking was easy in the country side. The small villages were fun to bike through and the scenery lovely. The post trip in Krakow was equally interesting. The hotels were all situated in convenient areas so one could walk to restaurants and tour the area.
Our leaders gave us both Polish and history lessons, besides being helpful and cheerful in all situations. I recommend this trip to everyone and look forward to doing other trips in Eastern Europe with VBT. I appreciate the VBT pick up and drop off services at the airport, plus the help in getting the best routes to our destination with 1 change of planes. No other company offers this and it makes a difference.
Poland the People, Guides and Country were fantastic
My wife and I joined friends on our first VBT trip. We were impressed with the VBT staff who far exceeded our expectations. They were well prepared, technically competent and eager to insure that we had the best experience possible. By the end of the trip both my wife felt like our guides were more like our daughters, not tour guides.
Both my wife and I are of Polish decent, but have never gone overboard on our linage before the trip. We found Poland and the Polish people true gems. The people were friendly, communication was easy with our very limited knowledge of the language and really was not necessary as every one went out of their way to assist us in any way possible. The country side and towns were fantastic. The history of the country and the castles and small towns were incredible. Don’t miss the pre and post bike tour extensions, both Warsaw and Krakow are world class destinations with plenty to see and eat.
gjsant2000, Georgetown, TX, USA
This was the best tour yet!
The trip leaders made this tour so rewarding for me. I learned so much about the language, culture and history from them. Being of Polish decent, I soaked up every little bit! I want to go back!
annie15, Greene, NY
Everyone should bike through Poland even if you do not have a Polish background. The land itself is something to be enjoyed with some rolling hills, beautiful forests and of course wonderfully friendly people. The big cities are a historic sight on their own but biking through the outskirts gives you an actual view of daily life. There are a lot of modern aspects in the hotels and old world features (like a farmer plowing with just a horse) in the country. I would suggest everyone who has a chance to take this tour

A very well organized trip, with incredible tour leaders, helping and at the attention of everyone. Absolutely flexible even in despite of the weather conditions. The program was extremely well done in term of cultural extensions. The official guides on the spots were fantastic Very well done. The best trip with VBT, may be you can send me a free used VBT Bike in France OR EVEN A NEW ONE (The best ones in Poland. I will be promoting VBT in France. Waiting to hear from you
Sincerely, I will be travelling in the US at the beginning of next year , may be we could meet. I remind you I am an branch office Manager
it was an excellant overall trip
the leaders were focused on helping us understand Poland and have a good group experience. Poland is a clean friendly country with a rich culture. The food was fresh and well prepared. There were vegetable gardens everywhere. The highlight of the trip were the two outstanding leaders who were fun creative and thoughtful.
Experiencing the Polish people, not to mention the Vodka is well worth the trip!
The 2 guides (Bibi & Asia) were outstanding – teaching us about the culture, history, language, etc – all done with flair, humour and unparallelled conscientiousness. The people of Poland have endured so many challenges yet they are generally happy, polite, accommodating, friendly folk who manage adversity with grace. Krakow and Warsaw are fascinating cities. While the biking paths are not the best I’ve experienced, the locals more than make up for the bumpy cycling. The hotels are nice, the most beautiful being the stay in Warsaw, the least appealing being the small & worn hotel in Krakow. The regional Vodka in Sandomierz will have you clearing room in your suitcase to take a bottle or 2 home! The fruits and vegetables are fresh and lovely. If you go in the summer months – mosquito spray is a necessity – however not quite as bad a mosquito bites from Spain, which are still a vivid memory. Traveling as a single, I felt very safe in every town/city so enjoyed exploring all parts on my own. If you are looking to be inspired by a nation and see a part of Europe off the beaten path – take the trip to Poland – a terrific experience.

Stress-free, Educational, and FUN!
This was our 2nd trip to Poland, but our 1st trip with VBT. The country is beautiful, the history is rich, and the people are kind and welcoming. Our leaders, Asia and Bibi, were well educated, caring, and experts in both bicycle maintenance and group dynamics. The extra activities gave us an opportunity to learn more about the country and to enjoy the company of our fellow travelers. There was also plenty of free time, so we never felt rushed.
My husband is an avid cyclist who does 80+ mile rides and has a custom bicycle, so I was concerned that he might be bored on a tour that is rated “easy”. That wasn’t the case….The bike was great, the extra mileage options were perfect, and there was always someone else who wanted to ride with him. We have spread the word among our cycling buddies and are looking forward to our next VBT trip.
A hidden gem
An experience not to miss and don’t be afraid of not getting enough cycling if you you are an avid cyclist as the guides make sure everyone can have a challenge. Exceptional leaders with a passion for wanting you to learn about their country and make sure this is your best VBT trip ever. Countryside beautiful and people very friendly. Don’t miss this adventure with a mix of being outside in lovely surroundings while learning about this interesting country.

Great History Lesson plus plus plus.
A bucket list item to visit my grandparents homeland and learn more history about Poland. Excellent mix of city and country exposure, I extended two days in both Warsaw and Krakow, well worth it. Our trip leaders were outstanding and exceeded all expectations.
Edziu, Camarillo, CA, United States
This was a fabulous trip – we had two unbelievably terrific guides, Magda and Bibi, who took wonderful care of us. Poland is an undiscovered gem, and not nearly as crowded as the rest of Europe. The rides were well laid out, in bucolic countryside, and generally just lots of fun. You could ride at your own pace and your own amount, fast or slow, doing all or some of the riding, and both the group and the guides were very accommodating. The additional cultural events, and learning about Poland and its history were also interesting and added much to the overall experience. I can only emphatically recommend this tour.

Forgotten Poland, but not forgotten now!
Poland was such a wonderful surprise! The country side itself was wonderful to cycle through and the cities offered so much. We enjoyed our guides immensely. Their personalities sparkled and were infectious, you couldn’t help but have a wonderful time. Their knowledge of the country they were born in was enlightening and I learned so much of Poland’s history and it’s people. If you have gone on previous VBT trips don’t pass this one up, it’s a hidden gem.

Great biking, fantastic leaders, wonderful scenery. I learned so much of history in that area. Everything about the trip was perfect, even the weather.

Great Trip with VBT to Poland
We loved our first experience with VBT in Poland. The riding was great, the weather cooperated all but one day, and the hotels were exceptional. Our two leaders went above and beyond to see that all guests had a great time. We would highly recommend this trip!

a very special tour
We have enjoyed many VBT Tours, and this tour greatly exceeded our expectations. The countryside was prosperous and beautiful with many great photo opportunities and excellent roads throughout the trip. We were never bothered by a lot of traffic and felt completely safe throughout the routes. Our leaders (Bibi and Magda) were nothing short of fantastic and they brought a lot of additional information to us about Poland and the growth and problems of the country. Our hotels were excellent and the meals, both included and those on our own were wonderful. I highly recommend this tour.

Culture, history, biking and fantastic food
This tour exceeded all our expectations. VBT took care of everything. The whole trip was seamless. We feel in love with Poland. We enjoyed biking thru beautiful countryside, learning its long complicated history and eating delicious local foods. Our bike leaders were fanatstic. Bibi and Hania gave 110%
A trip jot to be missed

This trip exceded all expectations
I have wanted to travel to Poland for the past 5-10 years. Being an avid biker, this trip fit the bill of allowing for some daily exercise and seeing the country at the same time. The guides (Bibi and Anna) were incredible in explaining the sights, the history, the culture and the language. They definitely made this vacation more then looking at the countryside from a bike. The lodging, tours and food were great with excellent pleasant staff. VBT did a great job of making activities fit into the biking days. Overall it was a phenomenal vacation that exceeded our expectations.

Beautiful country, great food, culture, history!
I am so glad that we took this tour!! First I have to mention the guides BiBi and Hannia who had boundless energy and good humor and provided us with a very rich and delightful experience. The country has a beautifully preserved complex and layered history and culture, that spans more than a thousand years, a beautiful
agricultural landscape on the banks of the Vistula River, fantastic food, and good biking. The guides made the tour endlessly entertaining with lots of activities including Polish song and folk dancing, vodka tasting in a salt mine, cooking with local produce. The shopping is great and the dollar goes a very long way there. BiBi and Hannia followed up with a video montage of the entire tour. I had some doubts before I went but am so glad that I didn’t miss Poland.

Poland - an unexpected wonder
Surprising and delightful and every turn. Beautiful cycling through blossoming apple orchards, bright yellow fields of canola and immaculate local neighborhoods with views of the Vistula, castle ruins, storks nesting on high poles and so much more. Wandering through Warsaw, one could hardly imagine that the city was almost completely destroyed in WW II. Krakow also full of history and wonderful architecture. Great Crazy Guides tour of Nowa Huty, built as the ideal communist city in the 50s. The Poles are a friendly, proud and strong people. And our guides Bibi and Hania outdid themselves every day.
Chris97, Northampton, MA, United States
Hania and Bibi made our VBT trip to Poland the absolute best. Their energy and spirit are unmatched! Poland does not quite have the same flash as some western European countries, but has a very complex and deep history and interesting culture. That must be of interest for you to fully appreciate this trip. The cycling is relatively easy. The food is excellent as are the hotels. The weather is unpredictable, so bring rain gear. Spending extra time in Krakow is a must and Warsaw is interesting as well, but requires a bit more research.

Two of Our Best Guides, Spectacular
We have always said our guides make the trip, Bibi and Hania are Fabulous. I had an unusual shoe cleat problem, Bibi rolled up in the van and within 5 minutes fixed it. She went above and beyond being a guide, mechanic, rider, history of the area, funny, knowledgeable, cook, innovative and a beautiful person. This trip is rated easy, but there were many days where hills were a welcome site for a few of us especially the last day, that turned out to be just that, hill upon hill. The history of this little but significant Country is inspiring. The countryside we rode in is beautiful, hotels were very upscale, most located in the middle of the Old Town of the area we were in. Anna (Hania) our other guide was/is terrific. Her smile never left her face, history buff, linguist, guide, funny, great rider, helpful, cook, innovator, our group was so fortunate to have Hania and Bibi as our guides. As mentioned earlier, two of the best guides we have ever had on a VBT or for that matter any bike tour. They put on funny faces, made a special tree on one of the morning rides, made pickles, rode with us, laughed with us and guided us. You are both, beautiful, adorable and special. We toured the Wieliczka Salt Mines, had a Vodka tasting on level 8 or 9 of the mines, about 1500 feet underground, were blessed by the local minister after we rode into an early morning street service. Warsaw is an energetic rebuilding city, with a dark past, but a bright future. Krakow is a wonderful, clean fun city. This is a super trip, that we are so glad we took. Thank you Hania and Bibi for being yourselves and making this trip memorable for us. May the wind always be at your backs.
Corvette01, Greenbrae, California
Booked this trip after four other experiences with VBT, knowing little about the culture, except for pre-trip readings, certain of a quality experience. The countryside was awash with poppies and other wild flowers. The two major cities, Warsaw and Krakow, provided many delightful experiences.
Beverly, Lebanon, OH, United States
The accommodations are great. Polish history is fascinating. The dollar goes far. The beer and vodka are first rate! The bike rides are inspiring. Pedaling through the countryside was delightful with poppies in bloom. Flowers everywhere! Small farms with potatoes, cabbage, corn…Apple and cherry orchards…Everything is neat and orderly. You can feel the pride of the people. Castle ruins and a salt mine are great diversions. Shopping in a farmers market for our lunch was delightful and making apple cookies was a special treat. Our guides, Bibi and Magda are incredible and beautiful (no, I haven’t had any vodka lately!). They are absolutely attentive and creative in planning the details that make a trip special.

trip to Poland
Bibi and Magda the trip leaders deserve a 5+ rating. Poland has a very storied history and they really brought it to life throughout the tour. Bibi and Magda were fun to be around and are excellent knowledgeable riders and trip leaders!!
The July weather in Poland was PERFECT for biking. Pretty much 70s everyday.
The biking was easy/moderate. Each day generally provided 3 riding options for those wanting longer or shorter rides.
The food was good and varied
The beer and vodka were excellent and basically the same price as bottled water :).
Overall a very enjoyable trip, I can understand why our session soldout

Best trip ever!
We chose Poland because we’d never been there before and we are so glad we did, this trip couldn’t have been better. Our guides, Bibi and Magda, were absolutely fantastic. They were enthusiastic, kind, helpful, and proud of their Polish heritage. They truly seemed to enjoy what they do. The cultural activities were so fun and interesting, esp the Wieliczka salt mine – amazing! We loved Krakow and it’s beautiful old town square. The biking terrain was great – most of the pavement was new and smooth. We can’t say enough good things about Magda and Bibi!
SFandPS, Oak Hill, VA, United States
A truly great trip!
This was our first VBT trip, so we were a little nervous about how it would work out for us. Never fear…. it was fantastic. Poland was marvelous, the riding was great fun and our two guides, Bibi and Magda, were beyond superb. We were the only individuals on the tour who had not been on a VBT trip before, which does tell you about satisfaction and repeat business. We are currently deciding which VBT trip will be our next.

Great cycling in Poland
This was really a wonderful experience. Beautiful, beautiful scenery with lovely warm and sunny days. Learning about Poland, especially its history, was a special part of every day. There was a nice mix of cycling and culture, including an apple cooking class at Hotel Sarmata and a tour of the world famous salt mines. All of the cycling group enjoyed individual as well as group activities that fit everyone’s needs and expectations. Biking Poland was the perfect way to experience the best of Poland.
Wonderful VBT Poland experience
We recently completed our 11th VBT vacation. As with all our previous VBT experiences this was professional, interesting, educational complete with lovely daily rides and van support. We’ve always had wonderful guides but BiBi and Magda were very special. They were so caring, smart, fun, interesting, competent. We will forever have a warm spot in our hearts for both of them when we remember our cycling through the Old World…..Poland. Thank you VBT for providing us with yet another wonderful international biking experience

The country was beautiful; the cities were fascinating; the history quite interesting and the guides were fun, skilled and knowledgeable.

Wonderful trip. Perfect variety of scenery, history, and culture. The two guides, Magda and Bibi, were over the top. Ddin’t hurt that the weather was perfect.
Fascinating trip; Terrific Guides
Poland is an interesting country and our excellent guides helped bring our experience alive as we biked through the countryside. The only reason i didn’t give the trip five stars was because the weather was cold and rainy and I would recommend biking in eastern Europe earlier in the year.
Cheryl W, Wahington, DC
The trip was very well organized as I expected of VBT. My main disappointment was the cold and rainy weather we encountered. This was no one’s fault of course but did detract from some of the enjoyment of the tour, The tour guides were absolutely terrific and these two ladies, Anna and Madga, made the trip just terrific and fun. Whatever you pay these gals it is not enough. They earned every zloty and are a couple of jewels that VBT should cherish!!!
We choose VBT because it is the best mix of cycling, accommodations, food, and culture we have found. Cycling Poland was our 11th trip together and it did NOT disappoint. Our days were full of cycling and other activities that allowed us to get up close and personal to the Polish people. We enjoyed ourselves immensely and are already contemplating Trip #12.

Lovely, full of surprises, best Guides ever!
Poland was full of surprises, including its incredibly painful yet heroic history. The trip through eastern agricultural Poland was chock full of little delights and beauty. charming little hotels. Great value.
Wolf momma, Michigan, United States
The end of May was the perfect time to visit Poland. The temperatures were mild to warm with only 2 days of rain. The canola fields were in bloom as were the azaleas and the lavender.
Poland is a fascinating place to visit for the history, the culture and the countryside.
This was my first VBT trip and I am hooked. The hotels, the food and the bikes exceeded my expectations and I look forward to future trips. Be sure to add the pre and post trip extensions if you can. The museums in Warsaw are extraordinary and Krakow has such old world charm.
And the guides! Magda and Hanna are the best. They love their country and were eager to share their enthusiasm with all of us. There is nothing negative to say about this trip.
Culturally and Historically Engaging
I never dreamed I would visit Poland and it was everything I imagined. The food, the cultural insights, and history were as fulfilling as any sensually oriented vacation. The cycling was refreshing as the countryside was clean and beautiful.
Jeannie, San Clemente, CA, United States
As long time VBT travelers we were looking for new territory to explore- Italy, France, Germany etc, are wonderful, but we wanted try a less-familiar locale. Poland fit that description and we were not disappointed. Every part of the trip surpassed our expectations. We did the pre-trip excursion to Warsaw and were so glad. Our hotel was located in the middle of everything and we walked to museums, the palace, concerts and parks. Our visit to the Museum of the History of Polish Jews was a highlight. Once we started biking, guides Bibi and Damian made sure we learned something about their beloved country every day. We rode through orchards, villages and along the Vistula River. This trip lived up to its reputation as “Easy” which was fine with us. We ride to get to know a place intimately, not to accumulate miles. The towns of Kazimierz Dolny and Sandomierz were our favorite stops- both featuring charming markets, churches and squares. The post-trip in Krakow was also a must-do- the walking tour provided by VBT helped us get our bearings and our hotel in the historic center let us explore on foot and by tram during our 3 day stay. We left Krakow knowing we will come back to see the things we missed. Our 2 weeks in Poland taught us so much about the welcoming Polish people, the complicated history and the hopes the country has for the future.

Why NOT Poland?
Poland is a land full of surprises and hidden treasures. After our vacation experience we returned with a new appreciation for the beauty, struggles of the people, and love for this often overlooked destination.
Our guides were outstanding and surprised us every day with special extras. I especially loved visiting Mr. Edwards unique Museum where he re-created life in Poland and also had many unusual sculptures.
The ride was varied and picturesque.

Poland is fascinating. Warsaw and Krakow, especially are fantastic cities with staggering historical stories and modern vibrancy. Biking through the country side and staying in scenic villages is enthralling and extremely pleasant. Our trip leaders were extraordinary. Cheerful, expert, thoroughly knowledgeable about what we were experiencing. They always exerted extra effort to make our trip outstanding.

I wanted to do this trip because of the pre and post WW 2 Historical Events. It turned out to be so much more than I expected. Beautiful countryside, wonderful people, great food and many new friends.
Orveito Overlook, Andover. Mass.
This was my first VBT vacation and it did not disappoint! Being of Polish descent, it was a thrill to ride bikes through the countryside, walk the streets of Warsaw and Krakow (and learn more about the dark WWII days) and visit the quaint towns in between. It left me with such a profound appreciation of my heritage. The history of Poland and the resilience of it’s people are remarkable. Our tour guides, Bibi and Damian were the best! They were fun, attentive to our every need and taught us language and history in a very creative way. Can’t forget all the delicious Polish food! Best pierogi ever!

Well Done by VBT
A well run and pleasant trip under two terrific leaders. Everything done by VBT was first rate. Only reason I call it “good” not” excellent” is that the biking scenery was, on the whole, mediocre. A few times the route went through pretty farm plots and orchards, but often the route went through neighborhoods of cinderblock houses—sometimes covered with painted stucco and sometomes raw. If riding through beautiful scenery is an important feature of a bike trip for you, I would skip this one.If not so important, sign on.

Great Leaders;Interesting Cities and Fair Scenery
The trip was rated as easy but there were some difficult uphills as well as some poor road conditions. I have never been on a trip where it was advised to walk your bike so often. Four of the 13 fell on this trip. This has never occurred before. The local tours were excellent but I was disappointed with the scenery most days. The leaders were excellent and involved. I had some problems with my bike seat that got loose once and I had less balance than on my bike at home. Usually I found your bikes to be a lot better. The hotel rooms were good and well located.

Walk through history
This trip was way more about reconnecting to family roots in Poland than the biking. Because of the reconstruction, we found the biking fair. It was a nice diversion several hours a day to clear our heads and relax after the heavy subject matter of the trip about the destruction and now reconstruction. Poland and it’s people are passionate, resilient and welcoming. They have come a long way and have much more to go. Seeing it first hand on a bike was enjoyable, up close and personal . . . but not VBT’s usual kind of bike trip. I would totally recommend this trip and have no regrets, but be aware the biking is not easy and either is the history of the area.

Our Best Vacation
The Poland VBT trip was our first cycling vacation. At 70, we knew it was now or never! We loved everything: the pre and post trip extensions in Warsaw and Krakow, the hotels, the cycling routes and best of all were our guides Bibi and Damian were always cheerful, helpful and eager to teach us about Polish history, culture, food and language. VBT exceeded our expectations. VBT is the way to see the world.
Bike Bob, Florida, USA
If you are like most, you know little about Poland. This trip changes that. It gives an entirely different perspective about freedom. The pride and excitement of these wonderful people is infectious. Please do yourself a favor and travel with VBT to Poland. The guides are fabulous as many others have noted. Hania (Anna) is the BEST guide and service worker we’ve ever encountered. She and the other Poland guides know each other from college and work exceptionally well together. They want you to have the best experience possible and walk away loving their country. No, the routes aren’t as good as some VBT trips. This is a country 30 years removed from Soviet control and their infrastructure is a little behind, especially bike-friendly routes. However, the food is uber-comforting and simply addictive. The prices for food and drink are 1/4 the US. Accommodations are in great locations. If you’re into beer, the rural offerings are limited but the craft scene in Krakow is great! All in all, an unforgettable experience. Do it.
