We are average bicyclists. Our initial concerns; were we in good
enough shape? What additional items/preparations should be made? All that was relieved when we saw the genuine care and
concern from Ann & Tony, our tour guides, and the detailed plans
that made our “working” vacation a treasure of memories. Though
in most groups of 20 people it’s hard to imagine getting along with
everybody, we actually enjoyed being among this varied background, eclectic bunch of people. The plans were loose enough to allow time by ourselves, or mingling as we chose. High
marks to VBT as a perfectly splendid vacation choice!

Wonderful leaders and accomodations
A trip of a lifetime! The accomodations including the food was outstanding. Loved the fact that most of the riding was in a park setting, it was so serene. The trip leaders were very knowledgeable and patient. They kept us motivated and happy. I highly recommend this trip and actually would pay to go on it again. Well worth it!

Maine has it all!!
Biking Arcadia National park was a wonderful experience. No cars, beautiful stone bridges, great seafood, experienced guides and a magnificent view from the top of Cadillac Mountain—the view was well worth the ride.
Great all-around tour
knowledgeable, caring and enthusiastic leaders
beautiful scenery in/around Bar Harbor and Acadia Nat’l Park
lovely weather – mostly sunny, cool breezes (late Aug, 2011)
nice group of bikers
food generally excellent and varied

A great Maine adventure!
Loved Acadia Nataional Park and will never forget pedaling along the ocean, up the mountain hillsides, through the forest paths, and learning the history of the area along the way!
Our guides showed us wild blueberries to eat along the roadsides and led us to the “melt in your mouth” popovers at our lunch stop.
I will never forget the rainy day…the best ever…all of us in rain gear…and laughing as we rode through nature’s splendor!
I carry life long memories that make me smile, and felt like I truly accomplished an athletic feat while having fun.

A Maine Sampler....
Riding on the carriage trails of Acadia State Park was such a wonderfully unique bicycling experience – there’s nothing like it! Being by the Maine Coast, visiting an island, hearing about local history and current activities, was all a great adventure. And staying in two wonderful inns wrapped up the week perfectly.

Outstanding tour and terrific guides!
Beautiful tour in a lovely part of the country. Our second tour with VBT and it was well worth it!!

Beautiful and fun
This was my first bicycling tour and it far exceeded
my expectations. The leaders were awesome, the accommodations were awesome, the food was awesome. Think I enjoyed the trip?! We visited places I would never have found on my own and gave us the experience of local treasures.

what better place to bicycle than in a National Park
One of the most best kept secrets. Small, friendly towns, and a National Park to see all on a bicycle. The “carriage” paths through the park were void of motorized traffic making it quiet and serene biking through the foliage. The tour leaders were very knowledgeable in the history of the area. Would do it again.
Everything about the Maine Coast : Purely Acadia ride was perfect. The guides, biking, accommodations, restaurants, experiences in addition to biking, free time. When I think of the tour I am flooded with great memories in vivid detail.
Vicki, Philadelphia, PA, USA
Great overview of the new england area. Something for everyone!
As always, the evenings accomodations were very comfortable and welcoming at the end of the day, only to be outdone by the evening meal. Dining on the front lawn along the bay, followed by a wine cruise on tall ship, breathtaking!
amazing food all along the way and plenty of it! this is a key for my enjoyment of a physcially exerting trip!
The tour leaders were knowledgeable and helpful all along the way. The bikes worked great and I felt safe and comfortable the entire time. Our lodging was beautiful! I took a roommate as i came solo on the trip and my roommate is still my friend! We hit it off! yay! The maps we were given for our daily tour were clear and concise and i never got lost, which is a miracle! I would take another trip with VBT in a heartbeat! This was my FIRST! Loved it!
PachaMama, Allenspark, CO
The tour was outstanding and the scenery was simply breathtaking.
I had no idea Maine was such a lovely state. Acadia, with it’s carraige roads were just a delight to ride. No cars made for a relaxing, beautiful ride. Our tour leaders were wonderful and so knowledgeable of the area. They continue to be our friends. I highly recommend this tour.

A perfect blend of activities!
The tour was absolutely marvelous, with fall colors and good weather. I loved the food, and I think I might have gained weight 🙁 But it was fun trying to ride it off. I enjoyed the tour of the island and our special stops along the way! I highly recommend this tour!

Ann and Tony were fantastic trip leaders and actually took time to correct my cycling technique (such as it was). Loved the carriage trails and beauty of the park as well as the opportunity to climb Cadillac Mountain!

Maine, Purely acadia
Our second trip with VBT, and never having been to Maine, we were astounded. We had no clue the US had such a beautiful area. Loved the mixed terrain and the side trips, especially the lobster boat.
Nanny58grammie, rockford, MI
Our Maine trip was truly magical. Beautiful scenery, nice accommodations, terrific leaders and delicious food. Who knew Maine and VBT were such jems as this was our first VBT trip. We would go all the time if possible.

Explore Acadia National Park and Meet the Locals
Tourism is alive and well in this part of Maine but this tour focuses on the environs Acadia has to offer, tapping into the local culture and enjoying the company of others who like to keep fit.
We all live busy lives doing what we do. Your guides will help you step away from that bustle, slow down, live in the now and “be one with the lotus”.
Fair warning, the “slight inclines” on Maine’s coast can be character builders for those who would prefer an easy ride. That said, the views more than make up for your labor.
dcartwr, Bartlett, IL, USA
Outstanding trip. The biking distance(s) and difficulty was just right. Food and Inn’s were the best. The trip leaders made you feel right at home from your first meeting with them. This was a VACATION and we could not have asked for a better relaxing week.

Beautiful and Peaceful
My husband and I loved the Purely Acadia bike tour, especially the trails through the Acadia National Park with its majestic trees and lovely vistas. Our guides were funny and extremely helpful. I am from New England and live in Colorado, so the atmosphere and scenery evoked happy childhood memories. Highly recommended.

Fabulous trip. We can't wait to do it again
Everything was terrific–the leaders, the biking, the food, the scenery, even the weather except for one day of rain which was fun too. We had a fabulous time and will be back for this trip again and others. The optional trip up Cadillac Mountain was more than we were ready for on day 3 but by the end of the trip we asked our trip leader Ann if there was anyway to do it. She accommodated us with a special drop off with directions from there. It was the highlight of our trip. It showed us how much we progressed in our riding ability and that we now have confidence to tackle hills where ever we are–in low gear and just keep moving. Can’t say enough about how wonderful this trip was. Loved Maine–so beautiful and peaceful.
Michele, Los Angeles, CA, USA
Beautiful countryside, great accommodations, and attention to detail.
The Acadia carriage trails and countryside offer some of the loveliest scenery you will find. The accommodations and food were a delight. The whole experience is very well planned and supported by outstanding guides, making it thoroughly enjoyable and worth every cent. I’ll be back.

Acadia - a magical mystery tour!
Acadia is a one-of-a-kind experience that is best done on a bicycle (and hiking) tour. The carriage roads are a bicyclist’s dream come true. And the Maine coast is awe inspiring….and then some. The VBT trip leaders were absolutely remarkable and made the trip truly enjoyable for riders of every experience level. The hikes were an unexpected joy as was the boat trip to Little Cranberry Island which might just be the highlight of the tour.
MikeNathOhio, Sandusky, Ohio
Location was superb. Rides were fun. Mix of group was a great way to expand horizons.
The bikes were new and very user friendly.
The Inn’s were picturesque.
Pools the best.

I've now taken up biking!
After not having been on a bike in 18+ years, I decided to give a VBT Maine adventure a try. My traveling companions assured me, “You can do this.” I was so excited to see the coastal beauty of Maine and taste the outdoors. Because of the expertise and encouragement of our tour leaders, Tony and Ann, I took to the road. It wasn’t “easy,” but I had the time of my life. We had great food and beautiful accomodations. This VBT trip has now stirred up the biker girl inside me. I’ve now taken up spinning and road biking, and I’m looking forward to more biking trips with VBT.

Scenic area and mostly traffic free riding
This was a great tour based on scenic rides, nice accomodations and good food. The tour leaders (Tony and Ann) were extremely helpful and friendly and were a major factor in making this an outstanding trip.

Our leaders spoiled us rotten. It was a wonderful time! Lots of exercise, beautiful scenery, good food, fun people, and time to relax also. A great trip I’d recommend to others!

The beauty of Acadia National Park and Bar Harbor were made even better being on a bike!
This was my first ever bike trip, because it was so great, it won’t be my last. Everything was well planned and organized. The bikes were great and our guides made sure they stayed that way. All the logistics were well planned. We had time to take in the sites and get a great workout. The food was outstanding and the lodging was just great. I can’t say enough good things about this wonderful trip.
Helen, Ponte Vedra Beach, Fl
This tour was absolutely beautiful!
I can’t say enough about the Purely Acadia tour. The scenery was unsurpassed, the biking was spectacular and our guides were so accomodating and inspiring. The balance between group time and personal time was perfect, allowing for wonderful comradery among tour particpants and enough private time to explore Maine based on our own interests. The lobster was awesome too!
LoisB, Salt Lake City, UT, USA
This tour truly was purely Maine, USA!
We enjoyed this tour so much. Our trip leaders where very knowledgeable of the area and could offer great suggestions on what to see, where to eat, and how to ride up Cadillac Mt. (3.5 miles 8% grade!!!!) the view was so worth it. The hotels were charming and very comfortable. I would recommend this trip highly, you should be in fairly good riding condition as there are some inclines to go up. (they didn’t like to call them hills). I will definitley take another VBT trip.
Ididthemountain, Upper Black Eddy, PA 18972, USA
Beauty in New England
I was thoroughly stunned by the beauty of this part of New England, and I have lived in New England most of my life. Tony and Anne had superb knowledge of the area and its people and showed us such special parts of Acadia. Bicycling on the carriage roads was great, with no cars, and the boat trip to Little Cranberry Island was outstanding. I definitely recommend this trip!
erin11, Boston, MA
I cannot find the words to express what an all around great experience this tour was. Beside the biking, it includes a side trip to Little Cranberry Island to visit a lobster boat and experience life on an island. The location in Bar Harbor facilitated easy shopping, lots of places to eat and of course the scenery is beyond beautiful. Our tour leaders made this trip exceed expectations. Would return in a heartbeat, what a piece of paradise. VBT goes out of their way to make any tour well rounded and as much fun off the bike as on the bike.
Bookworm, Elmhurst, IL, USA
Acadia National Park and its carriage trails were breathtaking.
The bridges and views of the ocean were the highlights of the trip. We enjoyed the bkikng and the hiking. We recommend the hike around Jordan Pond. We also climbed Cadillac Mountain on our bicycles. The view was worh the climb and we have bragging rights besides. It was lovely to come back to comfortable accomodations. Our guides were so knowledgeable about the area and so attentive. This was our second VBT trip and we are signed up for our third. Thanks for a great experience!

A great way to see the Bar Harbor area
The carriage trails were great for riding and enjoying the Bar Harbor, Maine area. The two Inns we stayed in were wonderful.

My first trip to Maine and Acadia National Park
Our group of 17 had a stellar experience on the final Maine trip of the VBT season 2012! Our guides were local experts and made the trip an experience of a lifetime. We hiked- tasted local Beer and had a local historian’s hospitality as well as experiencing the carriage roads and park features. I would recommend this trip to anyone Looking for a different riding experience( carriage roads- no cars etc) The Best was making my way to the top of Cadillac Mountain.. the tortoise and the hare as tony likes to say! This was My third VBT trip and I can’t wait to go on another one.. the best way to see ANY area!
egan, Lake Leelanau, Michigan, USA
So outstanding, it is hard to summarize.
This trip exceeded all of my expectations but first mention must go to the trip leaders. There were so knowledgable and so focused on making sure that we had a good vacation. We were blessed with perfect weather (September 2012) so had maximum opportunity to bike and enjoy scenery and all of the other treats that VBT had for us.
Wonderful way to see a beautiful area.
In May 2011 this was my first ever bike trip & I was concerned the hills might be too much for me. I’m just a weekend recreational rider. Ann and Tony were great with advice on how to handle the “inclines” so that I never felt the need to get off and walk on any of the rides. Food and accommodations were excellent, but what made the trip outstanding was the location (scenery and carriage trails) and the trip leaders’ personal care with everyone on the tour. It was such a great experience I signed on for the new 2012 Chesapeake trip within 3 weeks of returning home.

Beautiful Maine coast and Acadia National Park
This tour was a wonderful introduction to the Maine coast. The bike riding on the carriage trails in Acadia National Park was scenic and very interesting for the waterfalls, streams, ponds, trees/plants and the incredible stone bridges! Northeast Harbor was also quite picturesque. The tour leaders provided a great deal of historical information and, because they seem to know everyone every place we went, we were able to meet some true ‘locals’ who really added to our trip. I would highly recommend this trip.

Wonderful trip - looking forward to more
The biking trip in Acadia exceeded my expectations in every way. Anne and Tony, our trip leaders, were outstanding; so knowledgeable and attentive to our needs. The food was wonderful, the accommodations excellent and the people in our group were so compatible that we immediately felt we were with friends. This was one of the best vacations we’ve had and we are definitely looking forward to more bike trips with VBT!

Our first trip w VBT - and it was Great!
After being encouraged by family and friends to ride with VBT, we chose the Acadia trip as our first ever bike tour. So glad we did!
Accommodations, food, route maps and suggested stops all were very nice. The equipment fit the conditions perfectly. Everything that could have been planned out went great (we know VBT does not control the weather…) But as others have said, the guides made the trip unforgettable — excellent local knowledge, super encouraging and positive, attentive, humorous, kind…
This may have been our first VBT trip. I’m sure it wont be our last!

This trip was the perfect combination of fun, exercise, sight seeing, educational and an opportunity to make new friends!!
I loved our tour guides. Anne and Tony and Danny were informative and made the trip not only fun but educational. The scenery was fantastic. The exercise was great. The food was delicious. I particularly loved the opportunity to make new friends. I would love to experience another VBT trip with the same group of people!!

A fabulous way to see the coast of Maine!
Having never traveled to Maine this trip was an excellent way to experience the dramatic coastline of Maine. In addition, riding on the carriage trails with their history and wonderful scenery – plus no auto traffic – makes for truly enjoyable riding no matter your skill level. I recommend this for singles and families alike!
Peggy60, Ellicott City, MD, USA
I loved this tour so much that I would do it again!
The routes were beautiful and varied. The hills were always worth the effort and they all had the payoff of a downhill rush! The scenery was magnificent and the weather was perfect. Our guides knew just when to give encouragement and even the newest rider accomplished more than they thought possible. I will never forget the view from Cadillac Mountain! I can’t wait to return to Acadia National Park.
Trish10, Fort Worth, TX, USA
Acadia is one of the most beautiful places I have ever been.
This was my 2nd bike tour with VBT. I have used 5 bike tour companies on other tours and I would say VBT is by far my favorite.
The tour guides have always been great, you can tell they love riding bikes with people and that they love what they do. There is so much more to a VBT trip than riding a bike. Ride with VBT and you won’t regret it.

Great company, great park
My wife and I looked forward to our Acadia vacation for nearly a year. We were not disappointed in either the park or Vermont Bicycle Tours. The trip could have been a disaster. We arrived to greet the coldest and wettest first week of June in years. Our first three days it was raining with highs about 45 degrees. Nothing the tour company can do about the weather. Fortunately, we had packed knowing Maine weather can be unpredictable. What we got was a well-planned itinerary of riding, wonderful food, excellent knowledge of the area by our guides and near-empty park for our enjoyment. We saw Acadia as it is much of the time, which added to its beauty. Appropriately dressed, the cold and wet didn’t matter much and gave us a sense of accomplishment. The rain stopped by the fourth day but the cold didn’t, so the tourist traffic stayed light. All in all, a great vacation, met a number of very interesting local folk through the guides, and had a great time meeting other people on the tour who shared our love of bicycling and didn’t need perfect conditions to enjoy the trip. Weather was certainly offset by the great inns contracted by VBT and unbelievably good food.
LornL, Louisville KY
My husband and I recently took VBT’s bike trip, Purely Acadia and had a wonderful time. We have been to Acadia several times in the past and have always enjoyed the experience. Biking through it was ever more enjoyable! Plus, the coastline of Maine is so dramatic and beautiful. My only “complaint” was that the ride was not as challenging as I would have liked but, honestly, that’s OK!
isperanza, Brooklyn, NY 11233, United States
Riding through the Bar Harbor area and Acadia National Park was a wonderful experience. Do be prepared for the weather and bring layers of clothing. The trip was listed as easy/moderate, but there are lots of hills and long climbs. The food was awesome and we had a great time despite the cold and rain!

First experience with VBT and with doing an organized biking trip. Will not be the last, truly one of the best vacations ever. Anne and Tony, the trip leaders have every detail of this trip covered, and they know how to motivate everyone to ride to their best ability. I never imagined I could ride up Cadillac Mountain, but I did it with all their encouragement and coaching, and that was exhilarating ! The ride routes are beautiful and easy to follow, the hotels are cool, the food is amazing, and the people you meet in your group and on the excursions were all so nice. You also have ample time on your own to experience the area away from the tour.
Buckeyes, Columbus, OH, United States
It’s a delight to ride on the carriage roads: Well graded, good signage, plenty of room to let your eyes wander to the beauty of the lakes, ponds, ocean and woods.
Go on this trip
Just got home from our Acadia VBT bike trip. My wife and I along with our 2 best adventure friends (in other words – crazy & fun), had a GREAT time. Mount Desert Island, the weather, the bike rides, our accommodations and the food were all wonderful. But way more important to us was the people we met on our trip. All the campers were “happy” and we became a team that looked out for each other. Our leaders, Anne and Danny, not only took care of us, but they cared about us. Nothing was too much trouble for them and their positive attitudes were infectious. Don’t miss this trip. The “hills” even became fun! And the surprise extra experiences made this trip much more than bike riding.
Gasman, Pennsylvania, United States
Purely Acadia was our second VBT tour, and we are planning for our third.
The natural beauty was breath taking and the rolling hills were fun. Surprisingly, the sun set at Bar Harbor had the greatest colors. Our travel companions, the Maineits tour guides, hiking around Jordan Pond, Cranberry Island, food, lodging, and extra stops all added to the enjoyment of the trip; and Harry …
The trip made me feel that I wish I could have added a couple of extra days to hike some of the paths or walk across the to the light house.
We did have one day of a heavy mist, but it became an adventure!
Even more beautiful than I expected!
I knew that Maine is a beautiful state, but Acadia National Park blew my expectations out of the water. Several times I felt as if I were in Europe somewhere. We loved the biking on the carriage roads without the worry of automobiles passing by. The lakes, the waterfalls, the streams……
I especially liked this trip because we had more free time in the afternoons than on other trips we have taken with VBT. The bike riding was more chalangling than other tours we have done so the length of the riding day was perfect for us.
We had only done ones rated “Easy” and this one was “Easy/Moderate”. Maine has hills but they were short ones and the downhill after each one was worth it! So sort of like interval training-get the heart rate up and then rest as you coasted down. We really did enjoy it! I do suggest riding your bike at home before going on the trip.
We were glad that we arrived two days in advance to explore and shop in Bar Harbor as it is a most charming town with a very laid-back feel. A Key West in the north!
This was our second favorite trip out of the five we have been on with VBT!!!
We also stayed another week after the trip and went down the coast enjoying so many of the charming seaport towns in Maine:Boothbay, Rockland, Kennebunkport…
If you are hesitating about booking this one, don’t, it was fantastic!
Bterry, Haw River North Carolina
We enjoyed the natural beauty and wonders of Acadia park. The trip was well organized, our tour leader was great and the food was tasty!

Hills, Lakes and Beauty
Be prepared daily to tackle challenging long hills but the rewards are spectacular when viewing the Atlantic Ocean and glacier lakes. Every day you will feel as if you are a cast member in a movie set in the most beautiful and magical forest.

Beautiful trip and fun!
My college girlfriends and I took this VBT trip as our first group cycling experience. Purely Acadia was fun and lovely. The ride was beautiful and challenging. We had two wonderful tour guides who showed and told us about the Acadia area. Best of all, though, was the group in which we participated. By the end of the trip, we were all friends and look forward to riding together on another VBT trip.

Beautiful scenery, interesting highlights
The guides on all the VBT trips I have taken have been excellent and Anne and Toni are at the top of the list. The scenery is wonderful and the special events were fun and interesting.
I had a bit of trepidation as I was a true solo traveler: single, but also not traveling as part of any group. I needn’t have worried. Our trip leaders, Tony and Danny, made everyone feel welcome from the first moment, and were there every step of the way offering encouragement, great stories and advice. The others in the group were so welcoming and fun; I feel I made an entire group of new friends. The pictures of Acadia and surrounding areas don’t begin to do justice to the beauty of this incredible area, and I found myself wondering why I didn’t make a trip like this years ago.
Amazing scenery, great cycling
We loved everything about this trip–the charming inns, the gorgeous Maine coast, and all the great activities which gave us a real flavor of the region. Our leaders were so kind and helpful, and they put together a great, hand-picked trip for us with fun extras like a concert by an Acadian fiddler, and a conversation with a lobster woman. We highly recommend it to fellow travelers.

Loved this trip…guides were fun and informative…wonderful scenery…great rides…perfect combination of biking and time to enjoy local culture.

This trip has it all
This trip has it all, hike ,bike ,concert of typical Acadian music. I loved discovering little cranberry island and the life of the lobster fisherman and other inhabitants. The National Park was beautiful , I had expected that but all the other extras made this a great trip.

Breathtaking views, tasty food, great guides
This VBT tour was amazing! The views in late May included many shades of green. The weather was cool, and very comfortable. You could have lobster every day, and there was other tasty food choices (I liked the haddock.). I am anything but a serious biker, and I learned a lot about riding hills from our guides. And, our guides were amazing in their helpfulness and knowledge of the area. One of the special parts of the trip included meeting people from the area, and learning more about their way of life. And, I can’t forget about the sunrise on Cadillac Mountain. From carriage roads, pretty scenery, wonderful accommodations, tasty food, learning about the people of the area, and knowledgeable guides, it is hard to go wrong.

Another very pleasant trip with interesting people and knowledgeable guides, a little cooler weather than expected. I would have skipped the “hike” if I knew it was really rock scaling.

Great time in one of our National Parks
Great trip leaders, a variety of rides thru Acadia and the surrounding area. Interesting side excursions. Beautiful scenery and vistas best seen on a bike. Some rides trend towards moderate intensity.

First VBT Experience was FIRST CLASS
Our experience with VBT was delightful. I felt like a kid again at summer camp, no cares, no decisions – just immense freedom and the carefree love of cycling. The Maine coast was indeed “Moderate” but still not overwhelming. VBT arranged for several unique interactions with locals which were so enlightening. Loved both leaders and definitely planning a future vacation with VBT.

Exceeded our vacation expectations! We had a great group on this trip, the leader/Guides always went above and beyond meeting our needs. The Acadia National Park and Bar Harbor area were a perfect setting for this activity filled week!
Mike and Lori McD, New Braunfels, TX, United Statesn
This was my second VBT tour and, while it did not quite match up to the previous one in Puglia, it was a memorable experience. The rides are absolutely gorgeous and well thought-ou. The guides Anne and Tony are exceptional – this was a full group of 20 and they were always there to help with any little thing to make our trip a true vacation. Personally I prefer smaller groups but, as always, VBT travelers are always friendly and adventurous and fun to hang out with. My only criticism is that I found the Bar Harbor Inn to be too large and somewhat charmless, though I cannot fault the rooms or service. I prefer to stay in smaller inns with more individual character. (The Asticou was better for last 2 nights.) But I seemed to be in the minority on this one.

Acadia-- A Great Biking Trip
A beautiful ride with lots of variety. The lobster boat ride to Cranberry Island was great as well as some sites which we would never have gotten to without the knowledge of our two very fine leaders.
Daver, Keene, NH
This trip surpassed my expectations – and I have been on several bike tours. The scenery of Acadia National Park is stunning, the carriage trails cut through forested areas and feature stone bridges. Food is superb. Our guides made the experience a true cultural experience with lobster boating and interactions with locals. As always, the bikes were easy and substantial. Top quality. Would do this one again!

Maine Coast Trip
Maine in August – what’s not to like? Gorgeous scenery, refreshing climate, fun fellow bicyclists, and an optional test of stamina thrown in. (Ever try bicycling up Cadillac Mountain?!)

“Pure” is a great descriptor
Fresh air fragrances, tall green pines, rugged climbs with rewarding downhills; this and more render Purely Acadia exhilarating and unforgettable.

Exhilarating Five Days
It would be hard to come up with suggestions on how to improve this tour. It didn’t hurt that we had perfect weather and a great group of bicyclists. The guides were absolutely terrific–always available, helpful and fun. And the rides were inspired– full of breathtaking vistas and and exciting downhills.

Fabulous National Park to cycle around
The Inns, Guides, other cyclers and weather were perfect! We had as great time seeing the wonder of nature, ate extremely well and were entertained by a fabulous up and coming fiddler, Gus LaCasse. The guides were really great, attentive and hard working. I cant imagine a better crew.

Beauty, Friendship, Leadership
The natural beauty of Acadia charmed me from the minute I arrived, Adding the easy-going friendships that developed and the excellence of the VBT guides made this a special memory. Meeting “Harry” on his farm and “Stephanie” on her lobster boat will not be forgotten.

Great location, Great leaders.
really nice group and leaders, who managed to give us exposure to local culture in a very meaningful way.

This was our 2nd VBT trip (previous Cape Cod/Martha’s Vineyard – great as well). We had never been to Maine, wanted to stay in continental US this year. Purely Acadia was truly great! The food, the culture, the people, and of course – the biking!
The trip leaders were extremely talented, knew many locals everywhere we went, so we were able to enjoy some behind the scenes adventures. We even learned that it can be fun to bike in the rain! We explored the Moosehead Lake area for 3 days before the bike trip started: highly recommend!
Dome, Knoxville, TN
My husband and I had a fantastic time on our purely Acadia VBT trip! Our bike guides Anne and Danny were terrific hosts. They were warm and welcoming giving us a great taste of Maine. We enjoyed great views, bike rides and learned about the Maine culture. And to top it off we had lobster in some form every day! Quite the treat for the landlocked TN couple!!!

Not sure what to expect, as it was my 1st bike trip experience, I was completely blown away by the guides, the route, the accommodations and the extras provided. This trip challenged me and provided lots to strive for the next time I take an adventure like this. The guides provided local insight, extreme positivity, and so much humor and excitement.

A trip far exceeding my expectations!
This was my first time with VBT and I highly recommend this company. The well planned days, the wonderful meals, the fantastic guides made this such a memorable experience!

"The Maine Event"
The trip exceeded all expectations! The combination of breathtaking scenery, biking, hiking, beautiful weather, opportunity to meet the some of the locals and traveling with an amazing group of people made this trip magical! And as an added bonus we had “THE BEST GUIDES EVER” in Anne and Danny!
Suzcq, Oak Park, IL, United States
This was my first trip with VBT and I had an awesome experience. Anne and Danny were great leaders and were always available to help us. They were very knowledgeable and fun. They made every day better than the one before, as impossible as that may seem. The weather was great and the sceneries were beautiful. I am already planning another trip with VBT!

I do not know how it could have been better!
Carriage trails rides were awesome. The scenery, the pace, and no cars! The trip to Cranberry Island was a highlight and a great way to become acquainted with the lobster industry. Both Anne and Danny were great as our guides and really made us all fees special. This was my second trip with Anne (the first was Natchez Trace) and I think we will now follow her to Florida!

Every detail of this bike trip was perfect. Wonderful tour guides. Great lodging. Incredible biking excursions and comfortable well-maintained bikes. We loved every second of this experience. So glad we used VBT to introduce us to Maine. It doesn’t get any better than this.

Biking with VBT Maine Coast
So happy my husband and I traveled to Maine with VBT. The perfect vacation for those who want to tour the sites by bike. We loved everything about the tour.

Amazing Way To See Acadia National Park
“Purely Acadia” is an excellent way to explain this amazing trip! VBT did a wonderful job showing the group all aspects of Acadia: the Schoodic Peninsula, Cranberry Island, Cadillac Mountain, and carriage trails. Each day was special with its own adventures and experiences from the local area. You get to see so much of the area because you are on a bicycle that others hiking did not get to see. The travel guides truly enhanced our trip, and we will be traveling with VBT again.

Pretty Darned Close to Perfection!
This is my 3rd trip with VBT and the first in the US.
I am at a loss how to find any fault with the trip at all. The VBT hosts were two steps ahead of us in anticipating our needs and taking care of everything. The routes were paced well. The scenery was spectacular. The food and hotels were first rate.
But beyond the biking, we were provided an introduction to Acadian history, art, culture, music and the lobstering industry.
We were lucky to have almost perfect weather all along the way too!

My husband and I were looking for a fun vacation for our first time away from our kids. This trip exceeded our expectations. It was educational, entertaining, and sporty all in one. We are looking forward to taking another VBT trip next summer!

A wonderful trip!
By the last day of biking, I found myself thinking, “I’m all full up of gorgeous!” Each biking day held a little different flavor, with different scenery and different things to experience. The carriage trails were amazing. They weren’t flat, but they were certainly quiet and beautiful. The non-biking day was very interesting! I learned so much about lobstering and the local culture.
The trip was extremely well paced, with plenty of time for optional activities, or just to relax and enjoy the local attractions.
As usual, the guides, Anne and Tracy, were fabulous. This is my 6th trip with VBT, and the guides are always wonderful.
If you go on this trip, don’t miss the opportunity to get up before dawn and see the sun rise from Cadillac Mountain. It is a wonderful experience!

Excellent Acadia Bike Tour with VBT
Well organized. Great variety. Nice accommodations. Good food. Fantastic tour leaders – well-organized, thoughtful, friendly and fun! Felt very well taken care of. Really enjoyed this vacation.

Maine at it's BEST!
This was my second VBT trip and it was just as wonderful as my first trip! Our guides were incredible. They took excellent care of all of needs and were extremely knowledgeable about the area. One of the highlights was when our guide got up at 4:30 am to take us to watch the sunrise at Cadillac Mountain. An experience I will never forget. I loved this trip (and guides) so much I am already working on another bike trip in 2018 with VBT!

Young's Maine trip
Both my wife and I thought that the continental breakfast provided at the Bar Harbor Inn was pretty weak. It would’ve been nice to eat in the dining room off of a menu.
Also we thought the day spent at Cranberry Island was too long. The boat ride and the presentation re: lobster fishing were great but time on the island was too long and buggy.
Loved our guides, Ann and Danny. Great people and always willing to go the extra mile. They even dropped off my cell phone post trip at our hotel in Bangor after I left it in my bike bag.
Andy Young, Carbondale, CO, United States
We’re originally from New England, but had never been to Acadia. Our week with VBT and experiencing the sites of Bar Harbor and Acadia was spectacular. The tour leaders, Ann, Danny and Tracey made every accommodation for every need a traveler could have. (Except they made us earn our way up the hills and to the top of Cadillac Mountain!) Their knowledge of the area and important players in the history and shaping of Acadia made the daily excursions all the more interesting and noteworthy.
VBT provided excellent bikes and GPS to make the pedaling as comfortable and
convenient as possible. The dinners provided were all delicious and the nonstop snacks kept us fortified. We were so well fed that it’s a real challenge to pedal the daily miles and still take off weight!
The sheer beauty of the rides through Acadia is incessant. The camaraderie of the group, enhanced by the guides, made it all that more special.
VBT has an excellent formula for making memories.

VBT does an absolutely fantastic job. Our leaders were the best (Anne, Dannie and Tracy), the planning was well organized, the side trips/venues were interesting and fun, and the included meals were delicious, at good venues.
Two side notes. I had said I was ok with having a room mate. It would have been nice if I had a “heads up” that I would be having one, a week or more BEFORE my arrival. If I had known her name/where she was from, it would have made it even nicer. I was caught a bit off guard that upon my arrival at the Bar Harbor Inn I was told I had a room mate.
Also, I’d gladly pay a bit more to have a better quality VBT bike shirt, with a back pocket. These were a great color and design, however the fabric “pulled” easily and I will probably not be wearing it again.

Love at First Sight
We loved this trip! Our fellow travelers were delightful, the scenery of Acadia is breathtaking, the carriage roads are spectacular, the early morning sunrise on Cadillac was priceless. The routes were easy to follow between GPS and paper (never mind that we took a little detour … what’s a vacation without a little unplanned adventure?!) and guides Ann and Tracey were friendly, funny, fascinating, and handled everything with ease. The food was wonderful – including the snack stops along the way and that fabulous Fabbri picnic, courtesy of Chef Ann! This was our first trip with VBT, but it won’t be our last!

A state worth seeing!
A spectacular ride but rider needs to be hill ready!

Great ride for various abilities!
This was our first VBT trip and it was fabulous!! We will definitely sign up for future trips!!
The tour leaders were both fantastic, the company treated us very well in taking care of all details, running precisely on time, and fulfilling everything that the brochure promised.
We loved our whole group of 20 people, bonded readily during the week and thoroughly enjoyed everyone’s company!
We’re a couple with different levels of bicycle experience and ability, and this was a great vacation for BOTH of us! This is NOT a trip for brand-new inexperienced beginners, as even the basic ride has significant hills. My wife is a beginner and thoroughly enjoyed the entire ride, but was certainly challenged by some of the terrain. I am an experienced rider and would have found the basic ride not challenging enough — but the extra options that were offered were terrific, and the tour leaders gave me suggestions and made it very easy for me to get up before breakfast each morning and ride on my own for an additional and more challenging 12 – 20 miles.
Neither of us had ridden on crushed limestone before, so the surface of the carriage trails was a new experience that took a little getting used to.
Overall a fabulous experience — 5 stars **** ! When do we go again???

Excellent tour guides
I am not an avid biker or walker. I must say that Ann and Justin are excellent they stayed with me when I got behind. They are also very knowledgable of terrain and sites. I really enjoyed the camaraderie of all the group. I would highly recommend any of VBT tours.

What an amazing experience! This was our first VBT trip but it will not be our last. Anne and Tracey were great leaders who knew the area and were a wealth of helpful information. We were offered the opportunity to see sunrise from Cadillac Mountain and enjoyed it. I cannot say enough good things about this wonderful trip.

Spectacular scenery, outstanding guides
This was our 4th VBT trip and the biking was moderately challenging at times, but mostly rolling hills. Our guides –Anne and Danny — were professional, knowledgeable, innovative, flexible, helpful, and FUN! Best guide-provided picnic lunch of all our VBT trips. We were blessed with unusually warm and clear October weather, and little fog. The views from the park, at every level of the mountains and carriage roads, was spectacular. WOW!

Grateful! Wonderful Experience
I love riding my bike and I love vacations. So this was a perfect experience for me. I liked that all the details and logistics were all figured out for us. Great food! In the company of other bike riders from all over! Great hosts Anne & Danny!
Miss Jane, Boise, ID, United States
Acadia National Park is spectacular. We got really lucky on the weather and our guides were excellent. Riding on the coach trails was good but loose gravel made it a little sketchy in a couple of places. Bar Harbor Inn is to die for and we loved the village
Red C, Florida
I bought this trip 8 months ago. Was glad I took the trip with my husband. Perfect weather for Memorial Day weekend. Great group of people in our tour. The tour guides were GREAT! I am not an avid biker, but I enjoy fitness. The ride was easy to moderate. We would ride some and then stop and take pictures or tour the area.
Beautiful location - just a great getaway!
We went with a group of 7 in late May/early June – great weather for us, but I’m sure it could be a wild card on that front in Maine! Really enjoyed the experience – great options each day depending on our interests and how we were feeling. Do a sunrise at Mt. Washington for sure. Scenery is gorgeous. I think your fitness level determines if this is easy or moderate. Definitely not all flat, but not all hills either. No e-bike option as you’re on carriage trails in Acadia that allow no motors for a couple of the days – that was a real highlight as well!

I had the best time. Never would of thought a bicycle vacation would be so relaxing. Hotels were excellent. Dinning was wonderful with many choices. I enjoyed being in nature, seeing the ocean so close. Really learned about the people who live there. I cannot wait to book my next trip

Some of the best cycling we have ever experienced
One of the best cycling experiences we have ever had! Both the road cycling and the carriage trails were rewarding in every way imaginable (challenging, picturesque, comfortable temperatures, etc)

This Maine trip was wonderfully and thoughtfully put together. It was everything Maine. We learned a lot about the land and the people who live there. Great job, VBT!

I had never been to Acadia, what an introduction. This was an exceptionally well thought out adventure that gave us full exposure to Acadia and the people and culture of Maine. It was extremely well organized and first class in every way, accommodations, locations, guides, service. Safety was always paramount. Anne and Justin were a fabulous team. I will definitely be coming back to Acadia and to VBT!

The Guides were great, the scenery was beautiful and the terrain and rides were varied enough that any physically fit person could enjoy part or all of the trip.

Great tour, done in mid August. Magnificent scenery. Learning about the lobster industry was enlightening. Carriage trails were wonderful with the many stone bridges and coastal views were outstanding. Varying degrees of biking with no need to rush. Enjoy at your own pace.

Simply the best!
I can’t say enough about this trip! Was our first biking tour ever and it was incredible. Every detail superb. Trip leaders fantastic, knowledgeable about the area, willing to accommodate anything. The hotels and food first rate. The rides phenomenal, carriage trails awesome. Leaves just starting to turn so the views spectacular. Easy/moderate was just perfect for me. I’m not a beginning rider, but no certainly not advanced either. At home I usually ride 15-20 miles, a few hills.

Great way to visit Acadia National Park. The guides (Anne & Jeff) went above and beyond to make sure everyone had a good time. Many different options were offered everyday. We couldn’t have asked for more. It was fun getting to know the local culture. It makes you realize what a diverse and wonderful country we have. Thanks for a great time!
Our experience on the VBT Pure Acadia trip was outstanding! The trip leaders were seasoned, safety conscious, and serious about providing a great vacation for us. Very well organized and spectacular scenery. I wish I could do it again next week!
