In June of 2011, we asked our travelers to share – in words or in pictures – their favorite travel experiences, especially those unexpected moments of discovery that revealed the joy of encountering other places, people and customs. It turns out that our travelers have had many such moments. We’ve had an overwhelming response to our Photo and Story Contest and after quite a bit of deliberation, we managed to pick a runner-up and a grand prize winner.
Robert and Nancy W. of Bellevue, Washington, submitted a wonderful account of their Loire Valley biking vacation. Singing “La Marseillaise” and the “Star Spangled Banner,” they found camaraderie with hotel guests and staff as well as their Trip Leaders and fellow VBT travelers. For their entry, Robert and Nancy W. received a VBT Traveler Credit of $500 to be used on their next vacation! Their winning entry can be found on our Blog.
Mark D. of Richmond, VA shared this lovely photo of his wife, Terry, sitting in a tulip field on their Holland and Belgium Bike & Barge vacation. Mark captured the vibrant colors of the Netherlands, the joy of discovery, and the elation of a biking vacation all in one picture. As the winner of Photo and Story Contest, Mark will receive a VBT Bicycling Vacation for one in Tuscany, including roundtrip international airfare from New York City (JFK).
We would like to thank everyone who shared their experiences with us. Congratulations to Robert and Nancy W., and Mark D and thanks to everyone who participated. We’ve loved hearing from you! We hope that you’ll continue sharing your photos and stories with us on Facebook, our Photoshare page and our Blog.
