VBT Ranks Third in Travel and Leisure’s 2012 World’s Best Awards

Ranking among Travel + Leisure’s World’s Best Tour Operators is quite an achievement. To have done so for three consecutive years, and to be named third out of the hundreds of qualified Tour Operators is truly an honor for each and every one of our worldwide VBT associates.

Worlds Best

Each year, Travel + Leisure works with an independent agency to poll its readers about their preferred worldwide hotels, cruise lines, airlines and other travel industry providers. And those that are identified as the leaders are truly at the top of their industry. Clearly, we’re in very good company.

After evaluating six critical areas, readers gave VBT Bicycling and Walking Vacations a score of 95.36 out of 100, making our small company in Bristol, Vermont, the Third overall Tour Operator in Travel + Leisure’s World’s Best Awards.

Needless to say, we’re thrilled with the results! We’re proud of this acknowledgement and we’re very grateful for our travelers’ recognition of our commitment to offering rewarding cultural encounters and overall outstanding travel experiences. That in itself is quite a reward for us. Ultimately, we’re very pleased that those who have traveled with us, and experienced VBT’s approach cultural immersion with Local Trip leaders, are inspired by their active vacations with us. So much so, in fact, that 98% of VBT Travelers would refer their family and friends to join us.

Don’t worry! Though we’re very excited about these accolades, we don’t have any intention of resting on our laurels. Our commitment to offering active vacations of the highest quality and at the best value is stronger than ever. We really appreciate all of the support that we’ve received and we’ll keep organizing the outstanding bicycling and walking vacations that you’ve come to expect from VBT!

Prouty 2012

Prouty 2012, Prouty Ride

The 31st Annual Prouty will take place Friday and Saturday, July 13th and 14th. With five cycling options, five walking events, and four rowing selections, the Prouty has plenty of ways for you to pitch in and help battle cancer. Continuing a rewarding trend, VBT will be well-represented in our support of the Prouty for the fourth year in a row.

The Prouty began in 1982 when four nurses from the Norris Cotton Cancer Center rode 100 miles through central New Hampshire in recognition of their patient, Audrey Prouty. A true inspiration, Audrey displayed great strength and courage in her nine year battle with ovarian cancer.

The original Prouty ride managed to raise 4,000 for cancer research at the Norris Cotton Cancer Center. This year’s ride has already raised over $1 million that will go toward clinical cancer research and to patient supportive services that are otherwise unfunded.
