The Iris
A Comfortable 24-Passenger Barge

 In
service since April 2005, The Iris is a privately owned canal
barge with a homelike atmosphere. From the moment you come aboard, you'll feel
welcomed by the crew and charmed by the attractive and cozy interior. Enjoy a
lounge area with an inviting bar, dining room, and spacious sundeck for
relaxing with a drink, reading or leisurely watching the gorgeous countryside
drift by. There are 12 comfortable cabins with a small window and twin beds.
All cabins have a private shower and toilet. The Iris has central
air-conditioning and heating for your comfort.
Enjoy delicious regional food and wine
 Meals are prepared by our own chef and include regional
specialties, prepared using only the freshest, local ingredients. You will also
have the opportunity to try local wines during dinners on the barge. Your
breakfasts include freshly baked pastries and breads, local fruit, yogurt,
cereals, a variety of cheeses, freshly brewed coffee, tea and juice.
Four dedicated crewmembers at your service
In addition to your two VBT trip Leaders, the barge has a full time staff of 4
bilingual crewmembers. Jossie Verkerk will be your captain and hostess. Jossie
is the proud owner of The Iris and she has over 10 years
experience organizing bike & 'barge vacations. Jossie and her crew are
