Beautiful Salzburg has served as a cultural center since the time of the ancient Romans. Today, this charming city remains a destination for music, art and architecture. Visit the Mozarteum, a school and museum dedicated to Mozart’s life, or several other artistic centers like the Carolino Augusteum or the Baroque Museum. See some of the settings used in the beloved film, The Sound of Music. Tour the Grosses Festspielhaus, where the some of the most important events of the city’s famous music festival take place. Salzburg’s convenient city center presents many opportunities within walking distance: Relax with locals in cafés and restaurants, and stroll to sites like the spectacular Cathedral and St. Peter’s Abbey, as well as other churches, castles and palaces.

If you have chosen the optional Post-Trip Extension, you have another day to discover the city. Perhaps you’ll venture afield to the Hallein & The Dürrnberg Salt Mines that gave the city of Salzburg its name (literally, “City of Salt”).Day 2 - Independent exploration of Salzburg and surroundings.
Another day to explore. Perhaps you’ll ride the elevator to the top of Mönchsberg to admire contemporary art at the Museum der Moderne Salzburg. Or enjoy a concert at one of the city’s many music venues.Day 3 - Depart for the U.S.
