Weather & Climate
Porto and the Douro Valley lie north of the warmer climate zone that keeps
the rest of the Mediterranean hot. Its resulting weather tends toward temperate,
dry summers and mild, rainy winters. Unlike in southern Portugal, periods of
rain and cool weather can interrupt the dry summers; and the summer season is
also shorter. Their proximity to the Atlantic Ocean adds to its tendency toward
cooler weather. The following chart of average temperatures in Porto will help
you to prepare for your tour.
