Walking the Italian Lakes​

Discover Italy’s fashion capital. You will be surprised to see that Milan offers far more than glamour and trendy bars and boutiques. It is a city full of artistic and cultural treasures, all within walking distance from our hotel. Leonardo da Vinci elected to live here for a time and he left the famous Last Supper fresco. Michelangelo’s final sculpture, Rondanini Pieta, is also here, at the Castelo Sforzesco. Be sure to visit the Duomo cathedral and ascend to its roof, where you can admire its amazing gothic spires, and stop by La Scala theatre, one of the world’s preeminent opera houses.

If you have chosen the optional Post-Trip Extension, you remain in Milan for an additional two nights and have all day to explore the city. There is probably more to see in Milan than you think. For example – just across the square from our hotel is the Sforza castle, built in 1300 by the Austrians. This huge fortress is home to a museum that has Michelangelo’s Pietà Rondanini in its collection, the artist’s final sculpture.

Today's opportunities are endless. If you are a shopper, it’s an ideal day to browse the fashion and chic shops of Milan and dine in one of the many restaurants. Or take a train to the nearby art city of Bergamo to discover its medieval Upper Town and its fine restaurants. As you plan your time here, remember that museums are closed on Mondays in Italy. After breakfast* this morning, transfer to the Milano Malpensa  airport (approximately  60 minutes depending on traffic) for your departing flight **. Please ensure you are ready in the hotel reception area at the designated time.
