Exploring Quebec City and Charlevoix 2008 (6 day) - Detailed Itinerary

Day 1 of BIKE TOUR All guests meet in Quebec City
Meet your fellow travelers at the Auberge St-Antoine hotel at 12:45 p.m., then transfer to La Malbaie (approximately 1.5 hours). Your VBT Trip Leaders conduct a safety and bike-fitting session this afternoon, followed by a warm-up ride, before a welcome meeting and dinner at the inn tonight.

Day 2 of BIKE TOUR Discover La Malbaie and Clermont
After breakfast, take a leisurely ride along Pointe-au-Pic's lovely waterfront and the Malbaie River to Clermont. Enjoy a picnic lunch at the Jardins du Cap à l'Aigle, which features over 1000 varieties of lilacs. After lunch, enjoy breathtaking views of the St. Lawrence and an optional visit to the Charlevoix Museum. Dinner is on your own this evening.

Day 3 of BIKE TOUR Explore Saint-Aime-des-Lacs, Notre-Dame-des-Monts and Baie St-Paul
Ride quiet rural roads to Saint-Aime-des-Lacs and Notre-Dame-des-Monts. After a picnic lunch, pedal to Saint-Urbain and then to Baie St-Paul, a thriving artist community. Explore the many art galleries, schedule a massage at the inn, or swim before dinner, which is served at the inn.

Day 4 of BIKE TOUR Cycle Ile-aux-Coudres and transfer to Ile d'Orleans
After a morning shuttle transfer and visit to the Papeterie St-Gilles, a paper mill, we ferry to Ile-aux-Coudres, which was discovered by Jacques Cartier in 1535. Cycle the island and explore local craft galleries, windmills, shops and restaurants. In the afternoon, shuttle (approximately 1 hour) to Ile d'Orleans. Tonight's dinner is at the auberge.

Day 5 of BIKE TOUR Cycle on the magical Ile d'Orleans
Eat breakfast at the inn, then cycle along the scalloped coves on the Ile d'Orleans. Stone churches, ancient farmhouses and small villages grace this rural paradise. After your ride, gather with the group at the auberge for a farewell dinner.

Day 6 of BIKE TOUR Cycle from Montmorency Falls to Quebec City/Depart for home
In the morning, transfer off the island to the 272-foot-high Montmorency Falls. If you wish, take an optional cable-car ride or climb the stairs to a suspended bridge, which offers spectacular views of the falls and the St. Lawrence. Then cycle to Quebec City on a paved path and quiet city roads. Showers are available at Auberge St-Antoine so you may freshen up before departing for home.
